Post 9: I've never had so much time left
In Germany, especially during school, I was under time pressure. Every time when I was having a break I thought like "What's my next task? Did I forget something?". I simply didn't know how to rest.
Now I have plenty of time, but I'm still in a kind of rush mode. Faster, more efficient, don't be lazy! That's what my brain says.
How can I get out of this paradox??
Please give me some advice.

What I do in my free time...
1. Take a walk: Opōtiki hqas always beautiful and peaceful views to offer. And horses of course. I was a bit scared when I had to pass a horse today as it was blocking my path :D
2. Go to the library
It's one of my favourite places in Opotiki. You can enjoy internet and enough books. Today I started reading "1984" by George Orwell in English even though I've already listened to a audiobook but in German. The story reminds me to "Corpus Delicti" by Juli Zeh which we read at school. I liked it. I generally like dystopias and bad or open endings :)
3. Watch YouTube
I like watching the Japanese channel "YouTube University" by Atsuhiko Nakata. He used to be a comedian so his explanations are so funny. Now I'm watching his videos about the popular literature works like Shakespeare, George Orwell etc. I like watching while eating lunch or dinner from my pot (to skip dish wash :D)
💡if you've got some ideas for what I could do during my freetime, you're more than welcome to let me know :D The only condition is: It doesn't cost any money.
First time driving on the left side
Today I had a test drive with a Honda Odyssey 1999 which has been on Facebook for sale. I was sure not to buy it immediately because I wanted to save some money for the "real camper". But I really wanted to drive once, so I just walked to the seller's home. He is a very kind Mexican! He started working at a kiwi farm yesterday, but he wasn't sure if he gets work for next week. So I just offered him to work at my farm. Fortunately my employer has been searching for some more workers :) It'd be great if we get friends! (Don't worry Raphael, I feel a bit lonely so I just need some friends).
Bicycle
This morning, I've found a great offer on Facebook. The seller seems to be serious and reliable, no worries. But the problem is, it's in Whakatane, a bigger town west of Opotiki where you can get by car (30min) or by bus (60min). And today, I missed a big chance...
As I don't have a car, my idea was to take the bus to Whakatane on a free day having a nice time there, buying the bicycle. However, the bus service is only available on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8am or 5.25pm. To know if the service is reliable, I asked my landlady Bridgitte. And you know what? That's what she answered:
I read the message at 3:20pm. I immediately wrote her that it is an awesome idea that she picks it up for me, but a few minutes later, I heard her coming back. And she sold her car. 🥲 The hell, I should have known earlier.
After then, something awesome happend. Zared, he rents another room, offered me to drive me to Whakatane to pick up my bike!!! That's so kind 😭 Everyone here is so kind. So we're gonna pick up my bike tomorrow :) I'm so exited XD
Btw, you must wear a helmet during cycling in NZ. Fortunately the helmet is included.

As you will surely notice, there are so many situations where you can only say to yourself: Nevermind. In life, it is definitely more helpful to be flexible and open-minded than to have a plan for everything. Maybe that's the attitude I need to get more patient.
In your spare time, how about drawing pictures or finding edible flowers or grasses? haha! When I was in a small island called Taketomi-jima in Okinawa for several months, I really liked to stroll finding flowers, grass, or sea weeds that seemed to be edible. Sometimes I made tempura!
