Post 15: The South island - Part 1

Hello my dear reader,

I apologise for the long long break 🙇🏻‍♀️🙏🏻
My last post was about the trip from Opotiki to Christchurch, the capital of the south island. Time has passed and now I'm in the north again as it's getting too cold down there 🍂🍁🏔️

The following posts are going to be about my roadtrips and jobs on the south island. I've stayed there from December to April (5 months), so there is a bunch of things to share with you!

Christchurch
I stayed there for a week by myself. My only mission was to purchase a small, reliable car I could sleep in - that's how I met Pikachu ⚡

📍This was in Akaroa with Anna and Antonia, one hour drive from Christchurch.

As it's a big city, I also met a lot of new people y especially Japanese! For example there was one guy I got in really well straight away as he lived in Berlin for a few years.

I also met a japanese aeroplane engineer and a pilot! There was also a blogger who writes about outdoor and reviews cameras. He helped me finding the right camera for me 📸

The Road Trip to Queenstown
👤 Anna and Antonia. We met the first time at the kiwi orchard in Opotiki.

A) The Fairlie Bakehouse was our first stop. We wanted to try the famous pie there, I ordered minced & cheese - a standard one as it was the first time trying a pie in NZ. SOOO good:

B) Lake Tekapo was another beautiful stop. I did a little hike with so much Zelda vibes. The colour of the water is like photoshopped and with the lupins it's just magical.

C) We stayed at Twizel that night, a small town at the entrance to Mt Cook national park.

D) On the next morning, we drove up to do the Sealey Tarns Track. The weather was perfect, just a bit cloudy so we had to aim a good timing for the photos with the mountains in the back. On the way back we made a stop at a lavender garden where I purchased an ice cream with real lavender on top.

E) We drove to Oamaru the same day. we went Penguin watching at the harbour (can you find the penguin in the pic? 🐧) and visited the Steampunk HQ Museum. It confirmed my fascination to mechanical stuff.

F) In Dunedin we visited an old castle with it's garden as well as the steepest road in the world.

G) In Queenstown I stayed at my friend's room :) That's so lucky as the hostels there are quite expensive, especially during the Christmas season. I went to Fergburger with Seona (my Korean friend from Auckland) and her coworker. Her name was Ayumi too! 😂

Seona gave me a free drink at Starbucks cause she's working there XD The other Ayumi made this for me!! So cute

I also met Romi there :) we went to a short hike named Bob's cove track.

I spend Christmas eve with Seona in a famc Italian restaurant in Arriwtown. It was actually not convincing, but the vibe was there.
